Charles C. Shope

Charles C. Shope, age 78, of rural Nevada, Ohio, passed on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at his home in Nevada.

He was born on April 30, 1936 in Vanceburg, Kentucky to Charles and Gladys (Dyer) Shope, both of whom are deceased. He married Margaret Morgan on June 20, 1959, and she survives.

Charles is survived by 7 children: Shirley Hickman of Bucyrus, David (Sheryl) Shope of Sidney, Jerry Shope, Tammy Shope, and Kim Shope of Nevada, Steve Shope of Troy, and Robin (Kurt) Ziegler of Nevada, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by 7 brothers, Clyde, Donald, and Paul Shope, all of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Bill Shope of St. Regis, Montana, Carle Shope of Nevada, Stanley and Earl Shope of Bucyrus, along with 5 sisters, Geri Grayson, Rita Houck, Mary Nolen and Janie Farley of Vanceburg, Kentucky, and Debbie Pyles of Florida.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Davey and Fred and 2 sisters, Melvie Lohr and Rosie Evans.

Charles retired from many years with Wolfe Farms, and previously had worked for Swann Rubber, and the Nevada Elevator.

For hobbies he enjoyed hunting for rabbit in his earlier years, going for car rides in the country, his cat Tig, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services for Charles C. Shope will be private.
