Charles "Chuck" R. Schuler, age 74, of rural Carey, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 12:10am at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
Chuck was born on July 17, 1940 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Ralph R. and Esther Mae (Dow) Schuler, both of whom are deceased. He married Judy L. Barth on August 13, 1960 at First Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky and she survives.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Lois Elaine Jackson-O'Millian of Concord, North Carolina, and Brenda Kay Gravelle of Waukesha, Wisconsin. 3 grandsons: Brent David Jackson and Ryan Michael O'Millian of North Carolina, and Riley J. Gravelle of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Dawn Marie Schuler, 2 brothers, Dale and Gale and a sister, Grace Piecha.
Chuck was presently working at Alloway in Marion.
Chuck served as a Sheriff Deputy Auxiliary with the Wyandot County Sheriff's Department since 1969, where he was a member of the scuba diving team and mounted posse. He also served as an investigator with the Sycamore Fire Department. He was also a member of the former Wyandot United Sportsman Club, Wyandot County Rod & Gun Club, Masonic Lodge #343 F&AM in Nevada, and a life member of the NRA.
Chuck was a gunsmith and gun enthusiast, having taught along with his wife Judy, concealed carry classes for many years.
Funeral services for Chuck will be held at 11:00am Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. As a veteran with the U.S. Army, military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, from 5pm to 8pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky where a Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7:45pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, the NRA, for the James Care Cancer Center, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton , 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
