Carolyn J. Heinlen, age 79, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 10:35pm at the Maplecrest Assisted Living in Bucyrus, Ohio.

Carolyn was born on January 13, 1936 in Wyandot County, Ohio, to Ralph and Bessie (Rappold) Kotterman, both of whom are deceased. She married Marvin L. Heinlen on June 22, 1957 at the Emanuel United Church of Christ, Upper Sandusky, and he survives.

She is survived by 2 sons, Frank L. Heinlen, and Steve A. (Julie) Heinlen, both of Nevada. 4 grandchildren, Megan (Ryan) Miller of Sycamore, Rachel (Cory) Welch of Bucyrus, Brad (Cara) Heinlen of Radnor, and Nate Heinlen of Nevada, along with 3 great grandchildren, Hayleigh and Blaine Welch, and Abby Heinlen.

Carolyn is also survived by a brother, Paul (Sandy) Kotterman of Upper Sandusky, and a sister in law, Joyce Daiber, of Nevada.

Carolyn was co-owner and operator along with her husband, Marvin, of Carmar Gardens. Started in 1969, the family operation offered a flower shop in which Carolyn was able to showcase her passion for flower design for many years. The business continues today into the 2nd. generation as a greenhouse and landscaping business.

She was a 65 year member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in rural Upper Sandusky, where she was a member of the Emanuel Women's Guild.

Carolyn was a 1954 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, a Elks BPOE #83 Emblem Club member, a former member of the Nevada Volunteer Firemen Auxillary and a charter member of the Nevada EMS.

For hobbies she enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time at the lake cottage. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

A memorial service for Carolyn J. Heinlen will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, November 14, at the Emanuel U.C.C., 13989 Twp. Hwy. 127, Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Jay Scott officiating.

Following the service, the family will receive visitors from 11:30am to 3:00pm in the Alban Room of the Emanuel Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel Church, or the Maplecrest Activities Fund, or a Charity of the Donor's Choice, and the memorials can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
