Carl R. Bowen, Sr.

Carl R. Bowen Sr., age 74, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

Carl was born on January 18, 1947, in Kenton, Ohio, to Alfred and Virginia (Dalton) Crank, and was later adopted by Glen and Cecile Bowen, who preceded him in death. Carl was married to Kathleen "Cathy" Hicks on June 7, 1970, in Baltimore, Maryland, and she survives in Upper Sandusky.

Carl is also survived by his son Carl (Delyn) Bowen Jr. of Upper Sandusky, his daughter Naomi (Clyde) Colgin of Cocoa, FL, 6 grandchildren: Grady (Shaina) Bowen, Morgan Bowen, Clyde Colgin Jr., Jeffrey Colgin, Judah Colgin, and Isabella Colgin, along with 2 great grandchildren, Willow, and Addy.

He has 6 siblings: Evelyn (Richard) Greene, Everette McCarthy, William (Cheryl) Brooks, Betty Kahler, all of Kenton, Martha Ritter of Baltimore, Maryland, and Paulette (Tom) Porter of Clairmont, Florida.

He was preceded in death by a sister Cleta and a brother, Daniel.

Carl graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1965 and went on to serve in the United States Airforce. Carl then went on to work for Wyandot Memorial Hospital in their maintenance department retiring after 23 years.

Carl was a 50 year member of Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky, where he served the church in various roles, as pianist, Sunday School teacher, doing church maintenance, and also participated in Bible studies.

Carl was a very compassionate person and will be remembered for his love and compassionate spirit, and his love for the Lord.

A funeral service for Carl Bowen Sr., will be held at 7:00pm Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Rodney Donohoo officiating.

Visitations will be held on Tuesday, October 12, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the church.
