Carissa D. VanScoder

Carrisa D. VanScoder, age 58, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 15, 2026, at the St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.

Carrisa was born to Kenneth, I., and Marilyn (Nordyke) Toops, both of whom are deceased. She was once married to Timothy Skidmore, and then married John VanScoder on December 17, 2005, and he survives.

She is survived by children: Alycia (Kathy) Skidmore of Carey, Sarah (Dean) Skidmore of Mansfield, Thomas (Stephanie) VanScoder of Bucyrus, Jessica VanScoder of Bloomville, and John VanScoder Jr. of Bucyrus. 20 g randchildren: Sarah, Trey, Thomas, Alex, Emma, Kasino, Mary Jane, David, Hudson, Chelsea, Della, Shelby, Paris, Isaiah, John, Bella, Zoe, Schyler, Lucas, Daniel, and Richard, and a great grandson, Colston, along with her grand dogs, Shiloh, Benny Bleu, and Bailey.

Carissa is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Toops, II, of Upper Sandusky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Emily, and step children, Beth, James, Phillip, and Bobbi Jo.

Carissa was a 1986 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, and at one time worked at Fairhaven in Upper Sandusky.

She was a member of John Stewart United Methodist Church, and enjoyed shopping, and sewing as hobbies.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at Camp Michael, located at 1741 Shupp Rd., Bucyrus, Ohio.
