Beverly J. Gottfried, age 60, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on
Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10:12AM at the home of her mother in Upper Sandusky
surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with ALS.
Bev was born on July 27, 1951 in Marion, Ohio to Howard and Juanita (Kauble) Rieser, her father is deceased and her mother is living in Upper Sandusky. She married Ronald Gottfried on July 2, 1971 and he survives.
Also surviving are 2 children, Jennifer (James) Ruhlen of Upper Sandusky and Brian (Jandie) Gottfried of Upper Sandusky along with 3 grandchildren, Emily, Kasen and Erica and 4 step grandchildren Ross, Noah, Jevon and Sydnie Dible.
Bev is also survived by 2 brothers, Mark Rieser of Upper Sandusky and Jonathan (Jane) Rieser of Harpster and 2 sisters, Barbara Treadway of Upper Sandusky and Marianne Ulrich of Severance, Colorado.
Bev was a loan processor with the First Citizens National Bank in Upper Sandusky where she had worked for the past 33 years.
She attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She also attended a small group bible study through Trinity Evangelical Church.
Bev was a 1969 graduate of the Upper Sandusky High School and went on to attend the
Ohio State University.
Bev had a belief in giving back to the community which was apparent in her volunteerism with many organizations in the Upper Sandusky community. She will be remembered by her children as loving and devoted mom and grandma who was always there for them and did not miss many of their sporting and other events throughout the years.
Funeral services for Beverly J. Gottfried will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday, June 26, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joe Trester and Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.
Visitations will be held on Monday, June 25, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 9:00PM at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and 1 hour before service time at the church on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made be given to Hospice of Wyandot County or the
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Research Association and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
