Bertha (Polly) Pauline Swartz

Bertha "Polly" Pauline Swartz, age 89, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 9:40AM at the Fairhaven Retirement and Healthcare Community in Upper Sandusky.

Polly was born on August 16, 1922 in Christian County, Kentucky to Ernest S. and Ethel (Shrader) Shelton both of whom are deceased. She was once married to Arnold H. Swartz but they divorced and he is deceased.

Polly is survived by three children: Evelyn (Lendsey) Farler, Judy (Bill) Heffelfinger, and Douglas (Mindy) Swartz all of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, five grandchildren, six step grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, seventeen step great grandchildren and nine step great great grandchildren.

Polly is also survived by three brothers, Gene (Muriel) Shelton of Pembroke, Kentucky, Glenn Shelton of Huntsville, Alabama, and Douglas (Ann) Shelton of Pembroke, Kentucky and sister law, Delta Shelton of Pembroke and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three step grandchildren, two brothers, James Shelton and Elmer Shelton and two sisters, Gladys Caroland and Rubene Fields.

Polly was a homemaker and for hobbies she enjoyed playing bingo, vegetable gardening, picking berries, quilting and taking walks.


Funeral services for Bertha "Polly" Pauline Swartz will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating the services. Burial will follow at the Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Angeline School and Industries, Fairhaven Community, or the Hospice of Wyandot County in care of the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
