Bernard W. "Bernie" Barth

Bernard W. "Bernie" Barth, age 83, of Nevada, Ohio passed away at his home in Nevada on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 6:45pm Surrounded by his family.

Bernie was born on May 12, 1928 in Wyandot County, Ohio to Theodore and Bessie (Farrow) Barth, both of whom are deceased. He married Edith M. Smith on August 28, 1953 and she passed away on April 23, 2001.

Bernie is survived by two sons, Tim (Ann) Barth of Nevada, and Bernie W. (Roni) Barth Jr. of Galion, Ohio, three daughters, Cathy Cotsamire (Steve Gallant) of Bucyrus, Stephanie Holycross of Nevada, and Amy Barth of Nevada. 11 grandchildren, Heidi Holycross-Lui & Jennifer Leiner, Wes Cotsamire, Jay Cotsamire, Travis Cotsamire, Bri Cotsamire, Christian Barth, Emily Holycross, Josh Barth, Lindsey Barth, and Cody Barth and a great granddaughter Lily Fox. He is also survived by a sister Margie Donaugh of Upper Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Eugene and Daniel and a sister Betty Baldwin.

Bernie was the owner and operator of Barth's Auto Service in Nevada for over 30 years. He also had worked for 18 years at Bucyrus Blade and the former HBT Auto Service in Nevada.

Bernie was a Korean War Veteran having served in the US Army. He was of the Lutheran Faith having been a member at one time of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky. He was a retired member of the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department in Nevada.

For hobbies, Bernie enjoyed gardening and canning, mushroom hunting, cutting wood, playing cards and spending time with friends and most of all his children and
grandchildren.

A Memorial Service for Bernard W. Barth will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, June 26, at the Nevada Lutheran Church with Gene Luidhardt, SAM, officiating.


Visitations will be Friday, June 24, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada.
