Barbara Ann Traxler

August 10, 1945 — September 5, 2014

Barbara Ann Traxler, 69, of McCutchenville, died at 12:08 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2014, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

Daughter of the late Harold F. and Mary L. (Phillips) Shiley, she was born Aug. 10, 1945, in Tiffin. She married Harry A. Traxler June 28, 1975, at Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville. Harry survives in McCutchenville.

She also is survived by a daughter, Cindy M. Traxler of Villa Park, Illinois; and four nephews, Eric (Melissa) and Chad (Marcia) Johnson, Mario (Kim) Amesquita, and Cody (Mary) Jones.

Barbara also was preceded in death by a son, Lon G. Traxler; and two sisters, Carolyn M. Shiley and Kathleen L. Johnson.

A 1963 graduate of Carey High School, she retired from Mohawk Community Library and Mohawk High School cafeteria. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville, where she was a former Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She also was active in the former Strollers to Scholars Mothers Club in McCutchenville. She held numerous offices in McCutchen Grange 2360, was the junior deputy matron of the Wyandot County Grange, served on the Family Activities Committee of Ohio State Grange, was a National Grange member and Junior Service Club leader for Modern Woodmen of America.

Barbara was an avid fan of Cleveland Browns and Indians. She enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and loved reading, playing card games and bingo. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother.

Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky.

Her funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home with the Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
