Arlene M. Ahlefeld

Arlene M. Ahlefeld, age 86, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:20pm at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

She was born on September 10, 1927 in Chatfield, Ohio, to Carl and Emma (Telthorster) Carr, both of whom are deceased. She married David Ahlefeld on June 7, 1964, and he died June 25, 1977.

Arlene is survived by a son, Allen (Myrna) Walton of Penacook, New Hampshire, and a stepson, Charles (Dianne) Ahlefeld of Bucyrus, Ohio. Six grandchildren: Marlene Walton, Randy Walton, Vanessa Walton, Glenn Walton, Bekki Kriner, Craig (Aubray) Ahlefeld and six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a dear sister, Karen Nickerson of Crystal, Michigan, along with many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by a sister Theda Heinlen and a brother Donald Carr.

Arlene was a homemaker and worked for over ten years as a nurse's aide at the Fairhaven Community. In her retired years, she lovingly cared for her aging mother, and was always at her side. Arlene enjoyed hobbies such as doing jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, playing bingo, and watching TV, and was a true fan of OSU football, Cleveland Indians baseball and Cleveland Browns football.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the entire staff at Fairhaven for the loving and compassionate care Arlene received while in residence there.

Funeral services for Arlene M. Ahlefeld will be held at 11:00am Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Becky Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Brokensword Cemetery.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, May 17, from 9:00am to 11:00am at the funeral home.
