April A. Mullen, age 70, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Ted and Diane Brandley Hospice House in Summerfield, Florida.
April was born on April 15, 1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her father was Charles Weigel, and mother, Shirley (Wash) Wiegel. Then Shirley married Paul “Smitty” Smith, all of whom have passed away.
She married William J. “Bill” Mullen III on August 29, 1981, in Upper Sandusky, and he survives.
She is also survived by her two children, William IV, “Will” Mullen of Summerfield, Florida, and Stacey Mullen of Bucyrus.
April is also survived her brothers, Mike Weigel of Sabastien, Florida, and Walter (Jean) Smith of Harpster. Sisters, Sonja Puckett of Cincinnati, Carol Trainor of Cincinnati, Diana (Mitchell Vamos) Smith of Cincinnati, Faith (David) Maupin of Ave Maria, Florida, and Mary Ann (Tom) Lefker of Williamsburg, Ohio, sister in law Elaine Weigel of Owensville, Ohio,
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bob Weigel and Ed Smith, sisters; Tanja Miller, and Linda Smith, and brother in law Bob Trainor.
April, along with her husband Bill, co-owned and operated Mullen Environmental Heating and Cooling, in Upper Sandusky, and is still operating today.
She was one of the founding members of the Shawshank Woodshop Group in Upper Sandusky, and also a member of the Upper Sandusky Lions Club, where she held many offices throughout the years.
For hobbies, April enjoyed using her creativity in doing various types of art projects, and also was an avid traveler, having been to almost every state in America, along with Cancun, Mexico, Canada, and Ireland.
Services for April A. Mullen will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Deacon Kevin Wintersteller officiating. Burial will then take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitations will be held on Monday, August 3, from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
