Anna Jane Martin

January 10, 1920 — May 11, 2016

Anna Jane Martin, age 96, formerly of Nevada, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10:40am at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing Rehab Center in Upper Sandusky.

Born in Sycamore, Ohio on January 10, 1920, she was the daughter of Elmer Christian Everhart and Grace (Grummel) Everhart.  She was raised on the Everhart farm in Timochtee Township, Wyandot County.

Anna Jane married Charles E. Martin on September 22, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1996.

She is survived by her son Glenn (Eddie) Martin and his wife June of Ontario, NY,

one sister, Christine (Everhart) Swinehart of Upper Sandusky, and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, and Abigail Brown of Ontario, NY.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Martin, her granddaughter Rebecca (Martin) Brown, her sister Agnes Mae (Everhart) Walton, brothers Bill, Ray, and Don Everhart.

Anna Jane was a 1938 graduate of Sycamore High School in Sycamore, Ohio.  She worked over 30 years in the family grocery store, Martin Brothers Grocery, in Nevada.  She was a master of crocheting and knitting.  After retiring from the grocery store she started her own business, "The Hen's Nest", in Nevada selling crocheting and knitting supplies and spending hours discussing the craft and tutoring others who sought to improve their skills and art.  She was a long-time member of the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, where she enjoyed the company (and high jinks) of her many friends.  She was a dependable volunteer to many community programs in Nevada.

Visitations for Anna Jane will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada.

The burial will be private and held for the family at the Nevada Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, or

Hospice of Wyandot County and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 401 S. Main St. Nevada, Ohio  44849.
