Alice M. Smith

Alice M. Smith, age 85, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, left this earth to join the love of her life in eternal bliss, on Sunday, January 05, 2014 at 8:30pm in the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.


She was born on November 20,1928 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Francis and Isabelle (Vogel) Rall. She married Norman "Red" Smith, August 4th, 1951 in Upper Sandusky. He preceeded her in death on November 22, 1987.

She is survived by seven children, Theresa (Bill Brust) Spitler, Upper Sandusky, Patricia (Lee) Karg Stump of Upper Sandusky, Stephen (Pam) Smith of Upper Sandusky, Judy (Mike) Lucas of Harpster, Ohio, Norman (Deb) Smith Jr. of Upper Sandusky, Daniel (Connie) Smith of Upper Sandusky, and Jennifer (Dana) Young of Upper Sandusky.

She is also survived by seven grandsons, Nicholas(Michelle)Johns, Ryan(Shannan), Chad (Ellen),and Todd (Tricia) Karg, Elijah (Erica) Smith, Brandon(Kelly)Smith, and Jacob Smith. Five grand-daughters, Mona(Larry)Ross,Corrine(Adam)Broyles, Kathryn Lucas, Stephanie(Tim Wiegard)Smith, and Desiree Young. She was preceeded in death by a grandson, Aaron Karg.

She had nine great-grandchildren, Brianna and Samantha Hawkins, Larhyn Graham, and Lillian Ross, Hannah Johns, Morgan Owens, Anais and Jack Broyles, and Nora Estes. She had one great-great grandson, Bentley Hawkins. She was expecting a new great grandchild in the spring.

She had a sister, Dorothy Tillette, Toledo, Ohio, two brothers, Robert (Peggy) Rall, Upper Sandusky, and John (Monnie) Rall, Marion, Ohio.


She was a life member of the Transfiguration of the Lord Church, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and American Legion Post #225 Auxillary. She was a member of the Upper Sandusky Fireman Auxillary for 25 years. She also attended First Presbyterian Church and helped with the nursery for several years.

She will be remembered for her love of bingo, going to church socials, and garage sale shopping with her daughters, and for just for being unique. Her entire life revolved around her family, whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services for Alice M. Smith will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 9, 2014, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Ken Wessler officiating. Burial will follow at St Peter's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, December 8, from 4:00pm to 8;00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with a CLC Memorial Service at 7:45pm.
