Albert L. "Jumbo" Myers, age 76, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 5:25pm at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.
He was born on June 12, 1939 in Wharton, Ohio, to Clifton "Tip" and Esther Pearl (Yeater) Myers, both of whom are deceased. He married Teri E. Kraus on November 5, 1965 and she survives.
Albert is survived by 2 sons; Duncan L. Myers, of Columbus, and Burton "Tip" (Rosie) Myers of Nevada, along with 4 grandchildren, Andre Myers, Austin Myers, Malinda (Josh) Hill, and Candace Armbruster.
He is also survived by a brother, Jim Myers of Upper Sandusky, and 4 sisters, Maxine Biglin of Galion, Frances Lawrence of Forest, Edna Bohlen of Carey, and Ginny (Charlie) Jones of Harpster.
Albert is survived by many nieces and nephews, which includes the "Kraus Kids", Kerri, Jeremy, Lindsay and Megan.
He was preceded in death by his brother Tom Myers, and 2 sisters, Peg Biglin, and Ann Cornish.
Albert attended Upper Sandusky High School and went on to serve our country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army as Military Police.
He had worked for 20 years for Millroad Orchards near Harpster and 20 years as a tank truck driver for Shell Oil Company before his retirement.
Albert was an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and archery. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, especially his Triumph.
He was a life member of the Amvets #777 in Upper Sandusky, and was a former member of the local Eagles #2184, and Moose Lodge #1093 in Upper Sandusky, and was a founding member of the Wyandot Bowmen Archery Club, now known as the Wyandot United Sportsman Club.
He will be remembered at Fairhaven Community as the "candyman", since he made it a rule that if you entered his room, for whatever reason, you had to have a piece of candy from his unending supply. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Albert Myers will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Brian Arnold and Rev. Becky King officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Cemetery near Vanlue, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.
Visitation will be held 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm Friday, February 26, 2016 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
