Virgil R. “Butch” Heffelfinger, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 2:15am at his home.
Virgil was born on June 17, 1938 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to John and Ruth (Stiefel) Heffelfinger, both of whom are deceased. He married Carol A. Smith on March 6, 1975 and she survives.
He is survived by his children: Jeffrey Heffelfinger of Upper Sandusky, Edward (Becky) Heffelfinger of Payson, Utah, Cara (Cecil) Morrison of Upper Sandusky, and James Heffelfinger of Upper Sandusky. 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren survive along with a sister Jane Kauble of Upper Sandusky.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, a brother William Heffelfinger, and a sister, Naomi Hoy.
Virgil was a 1956 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to serve in the US Army.
He retired from Schilling Propane, and before that he did construction on his own and also with Karg Construction, all in Upper Sandusky.
Virgil was a member of Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky and enjoyed playing volleyball, camping at Riverbend Campgrounds, fishing, and bowling, having bowled a 300 game.
A memorial service for Virgil “Butch” Heffelfinger will be held at 7:00pm on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Community Christian Center with Rev. Bill Williamson officiating.
Visitations will be held 1 hour before service on Saturday
