Steven D. “Whop” Adkins, age 59, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 8:26am at his home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Whop was born on May 7, 1960 in Point Pleasant, WV to John W. and Mary M. (Matheny) Adkins. His mother survives in Upper Sandusky.
He married Robin Tipton on October 28, 2000 and she survives in Upper Sandusky. He is also survived by four children: Jeff (Becky) Adkins of Upper Sandusky, Melissa (Shawn) Thomas of Bucyrus, Joshua Schwenning of Upper Sandusky and Joe (Danielle) Adkins of Sevierville, TN, and a sister, Jane (Rick) Wood of Upper Sandusky. He was known as Papaw to ten grandchildren: Hannah, Jensyn, Tabby, Jackson, Zandria, Jostyn, Harley, Camden, Stevie and Ella. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Elben “Elrod” Adkins and a nephew, Spencer Adkins.
Whop was a 1978 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He worked at Mills Company in Marion for many years. His memberships included the Moose 1093, AMVETS 777 and Eagles Aerie 2184 all in Upper Sandusky.
Whop enjoyed riding his Harley, camping, and cheering for the Chicago Bears and O.S.U. Buckeyes.
He loved spending time with his family and friends.
The family will receive family and friends from 4 – 7pm on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
