Sarah Jane Ulrich

Sarah Jane Ulrich, age 96, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 2:30am at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

Sarah Jane was born on March 16, 1923 in Upper Sandusky to Wilford P. and Cora (Shaffer) Osborn, both of whom are deceased. Sarah graduated from Upper Sandusky High School and is one of the last living members of the class of 1941.  She married Robert H. Ulrich on May 16, 1954 in the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky, and he passed away on February 26, 1977.

She is survived by a son Edward H. (Julie) Ulrich of Baltimore, Ohio, and 2 grandchildren, Jacob (Tolli) Ulrich and Holly (Barry) Hettler, along with 3 great grandchildren, Larson, Darbi, and Warner Ulrich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Stephan R. Ulrich, a brother, Neal Osborn, and a sister Janet.

Sarah Jane was a homemaker and taught piano since the 60’s out of her home for many years.  She also worked as a deputy clerk and treasurer at the Upper Sandusky Library, and worked at the former Ohio Power office.

She was a member since`1937 of the First Presbyterian Church.  She served as the church organist of the John Stewart U.M.C. and First Presbyterian Church for many years, and also played the organ at the Old Mission Church for summer services.

Sarah Jane was a member of the Alpha Chapter of the Usando Literary Club and the former Epsilon Mother’s Club.

For hobbies she enjoyed traveling with her friends throughout Europe, having visited many cathedrals and their pipe organs.

Funeral services for Sarah Jane Ulrich will be held at 10:30am Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Wessler officiating.

Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Friday, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and 1 hour before service time on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, or Hospice of Wyandot County, or the Activities Fund of the Wyandot County Home and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio  43351.
