Robert "Bob" E. Richards

Robert “Bob” E. Richards, age 83, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 2:10AM at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center in Upper Sandusky.

Bob was born on August 31, 1936 to Francis and Margaret (Hunter) Richards in Wyandot County, Ohio. He married Joyce M. Frank on March 17, 1956 at the North Salem Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and she survives.

Bob is survived by three children: Alan (Ann) Richards of Upper Sandusky, Gary Richards of Cleveland, and Suzanne (Allen) Reinhart of Tiffin. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Amy Volpp, Jason (Sarah) Richards, Jacob (Elizabeth) Richards, Ashley (Chad) Burger, Melissa Reinhart, and Gregory (Katie) Reinhart as well as eight great grandchildren: Trevor and Tyler Volpp, Brent, Jayden and Carly Richards, Caden, Anna and Alivia Burger. Bob is also survived by a brother, Rodney (Jennifer) Richards of Findlay a relative, Mary Frank of Athens, Ohio and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one infant son, Dwight Richards.

Bob was a 1954 Salem High School graduate and started his career working at Indian Springs Poultry Farm which he later went on to become the owner and operator. He was also a 22 year employee of Heritage Cooperative in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Bob was a 52 year member of Wyandot County Sheriff’s Auxiliary, a lifelong resident of Salem Township and served as a trustee for the township for 18 years. He also served on the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Board, was a life member of BPOE #83, and was an avid bowler and card player.

Nothing made him happier than being with his family. The annual family vacation at the lake for 33 years was the highlight of his summer.

Memorial services will be held at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 5, 2019 with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating. Private graveside services will be held at North Salem Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

Visitations will be held at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot County Sheriff’s Auxiliary or to the Wyandot County Courthouse Flower Fund and can be mailed to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
