Paul F. Rife, age 84, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 1:21am at his home in Upper Sandusky.
Paul was born on April 3, 1933 in Tymochtee Township, Ohio, to Harold T. and Helen (Hetzel) Rife, both of whom are deceased. He married Lois Ann Sammet on September 9, 1951 at St. Paul Lutheran Church and she passed away on October 21, 2015.
Paul is survived by a daughter, Christina, and a son, Ken Rife, both of Upper Sandusky. Two grandchildren, Erin (J.R.) Laborie, of Beaver City, Nebraska and Cory Rife of Upper Sandusky also survive.as well as a special daughter-in-law, Missy Rife of Upper Sandusky, and sisters-in-law, Mary Rife and Maxine Rife along with many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois, a son Brian Rife, 4 brothers: Fredrick, Don, Gene and Myron Rife and three sisters: Neva Scheck, Wilma Lortz and Kathleen Walter.
Paul was a 1951 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and went on to serve his country as a corporal in the US Army, stationed in Germany 1953-1955, during the Korean Conflict.
Paul was a Wyandot County farmer all his working life, worked for Kinley Dairy and Homer F. Sammet Trucking and served for 14 years as Crane Township road supervisor, retiring in 1994 when he turned the reigns over to Bill Shumaker. Paul was a 40 year member of Wyandot County Coon Hunters, served on the Board of Directors of US Commission Company, was a former Wyandot County Rod & Gun Club member, and a member of Bud’s Social Club. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Erin and Cory. He will be remembered best for his love for his family, his quiet way, his sense of humor and his integrity.
Funeral services for Paul Rife will be held on Monday, March 5, at11:00am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Edward Hunker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, March 4, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
