Maxine “Auntie” Archer, age 95, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 3:10am at Birchaven Village in Findlay, Ohio.
Maxine was born on February 2, 1922 in Findlay, Ohio, to Ralph and Pearl (Wasbro) Woodward. She married Robert Overmire on December 7, 1940 in Fostoria and he passed away on October 26, 1976. She married Donald Archer in Dover, Ohio on November 4, 1978 and he passed away on July 23, 1999. Also preceding her in death were a brother Thomas Woodward of Phoenix, Arizona, a half-sister, Rose Gillum of Fostoria, Ohio and a nephew, Terry Hunt, of Upper Sandusky.
She is survived by her nephew’s wife, Gisela Hunt, a great-nephew, Stacy (Tina) Hunt, and a great-niece, Dana (Greg) Doersam, along with their children: Logan White, Kaleb Doersam, Justine and Joslyn Hunt.
Maxine enjoyed her work as a General Motors Automotive accountant for 36 years, retiring in 1984 and then moving from Catawba Island to Upper Sandusky to live near her nephew, Terry, and his family, by whom she was dearly loved.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping and spending time with her family. When she lost her sight in 2012, her passion became listening to recorded stories.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 14 at 3:00pm at Catawba Island cemetery, Port Clinton with Rev. Wesley Cracker, officiating.
