John E. Ralph, age 85, of Morral, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 12:15am at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
John was born on June 7, 1934 in Wyandot County to Perry and Hazel (Sisson) Ralph, both of whom are deceased. He married Shirley Porter on June 5, 1953 at the Emanuel Lutheran church in Marion, and she passed away on August 12, 2014.
He is survived by his 4 children, Linda (Denny) Thomas of Harpster, Ohio, Dave Ralph of Harpster, Julie (Craig) Lindsay of Nevada, Ohio, and Darryl (Jill) Ralph of Morral. 8 grandchildren, John Thomas, Clint Thomas, Cheryl McKinniss, Courtney Frombaugh, Kaiti Von Koenel, Brett Ralph, Seth Sayre, Casey Moore, 16 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Along with a brother Donald (Mary) Ralph of Morral, and a 2 sisters, Carol Althouse of Harpster, and Sandy Cramer, who is deceased.
John was a 1952 graduate of Harpster High School. He was a 2nd generation farmer with Ralph Brothers Farm for many years.
He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Marion. Secretary and past president of the Marion County Coon Hunters Association, and a Salt Rock Township Trustee for many years.
John was also 46-year member of Warpole Lodge 176 F&AM,45-year member of McCutchen Chapter 96 R.A.M.,45-year member of Upper Sandusky Council 98 R&SM, and a 44-year member Warpole Chapter 366, Order of the Eastern Star, all of Upper Sandusky.
For hobbies he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and in his younger years he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball with his brother Don, and coaching kids in grade school basketball.
John will be remembered for his strong Christian faith and love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for John E. Ralph will be held at 11:00am Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Kevin Kehn officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, September 18, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with a Masonic Service to be held at 4:00pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hospice of Wyandot County, or the Fairhaven Community, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
