John E. Kibler, age 79, of Upper Sandusky, and formerly of Nevada, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 4:51pm at Westbrook Assisted Living and Memory Care in Upper Sandusky.
John was born on May 2, 1939 in Marion, Ohio and married Susan “Sue” Young on November 24, 1971 and she passed away on March 15, 2017.
He is survived by 5 children: Jim (Paula) Kibler of Dunn, North Carolina, Jeff (Megan) Kibler of Marion, Joe (Lora) Kibler of Marion, Mindy (Aaron) Cox of Arcanum, Ohio, and Anna (Nate) Kibler of Bucyrus, along with 18 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
John is also survived by a brother Earl Kibler of Delaware, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and a sister, Laura Lee Poling.
John was retired from the Marion Correctional Institute where he had worked for 32 years, retiring in 2003.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a long time member of the Nevada United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Nevada Masonic Lodge #343 F & AM.
John and his wife Sue, cared for many foster children throughout their years together.
For hobbies, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, training dogs, and taking care of his lawn.
Memorial services for John E. Kibler will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Nevada United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Smithey officiating.
Visiations will be held 1 hour before service time on Wednesday, October at the church.
