Ivan Lee Parsell

 Ivan Lee Parsell, age 76, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2017.  He was born on July 29, 1940 in rural Wyandot County.  Ivan graduated from Wharton High School in 1958 and served  in the U.S. Air Force, initially stationed at Alconbury Air Force Base in England where he met the love of his life, Shirley Peake.  Ivan and Shirley married on March 9, 1963 in Leicester, England and recently celebrated 54 years of marriage.

After his military service, Ivan lived and raised his family in Wharton, Ohio and worked for the Bendix Autolite / Allied Signal spark plug plant in Fostoria Ohio where he was an inspector.  He retired after 30 years of service and relocated to Fairfield County to be closer to his children and grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Aletha Parsell, his brother Peter Parsell, Ivan is survived by his wife, Shirley, and their three children: Leslie (Kevin) DeMarco of Gahanna, Stuart (Vicki) Parsell of Powell and Kyle Parsell of Somerset, grandchildren Nichole (Dexter) Witchey, Mark Parsell, Courtney Parsell, Seth Parsell, Josh DeMarco, Caleb DeMarco, Nathan DeMarco, Emily Parsell, Grace Parsell and Evan Parsell. 

Ivan is also survived by five brothers: Stephen (Mary Jane) Parsell of Upper Sandusky, Ohio and Larry (Cheryl) Passet, David (Kim) Passet, Douglas Passet, and Dale Passet, all of Wharton, Ohio.

Ivan is a long time member of Eagle Rock Church in Pickerington, Ohio and faithfully volunteered as an usher for many years.

Ivan enjoyed spending time with family, playing ping pong, piloting, gardening, traveling and reading.  He was a self-taught carpenter and built his family home in Wharton. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.  Pastor Les Bowling will officiate.  Burial to follow at the York Street Cemetery in Wyandot County, where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.

 A memorial service will be held  at 3:00pm Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Eagle Rock Church, 6810 Blacklick Eastern Road, Pickerington, OH 43147.
