Ellen M. Voorhees, age 93, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 4:25pm at the Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky.

She was born on August 10, 1924 in Schuyler County, New York to Harry and Ruth (Bement) Tuttle, both of whom are deceased.  She married Harold Voorhees on August 10, 1940 in Elmira, New York and he passed away on June 14, 1985.

Ellen is survived by her daughter Etta (Nelson) Dilley, and her 8 grandchildren: Lori (Steve) Messmer, Dawn (Denny) Yeater, Annette Cheney, Todd (Debbie) Dilley, Deanna (Nick) Oney, Bryan Voorhees, Jerod Voorhees and Joseph Voorhees.  She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren: Tiffany, Scott, Josh, Denver, Taylor, Turner, Alec, Alaney, Alivia, Hope, Quinten, Blayne, Kayla, Hannah, Chloe and Jacob and 3 great-great grandchildren, Alexandra, Abram and Abigail.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy!

She is also survived by her siblings: Ruthanna Smith of Arkport, New York, Jeanne Payne of Charlottesville, Virginia, Jack Tuttle of Bluffton, South Carolina, James Tuttle of Vero Beach, Florida, Harold Tuttle of Upper Sandusky, and Frances Secord of Burdett, New York.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Ellen Chapman, a son Harold “Tony” Voorhees, and 4 brothers, Charles, Russell, Harry Jr. and Robert Tuttle.

Ellen and her husband owned and operated the Havlin Hotel in Upper Sandusky for over 25 years. She was a faithful member and servant in the nursery at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church where she enjoyed taking care of three generations of children for over 65 years.  Ellen was an active member of the VFW #2842 Auxiliary in Upper Sandusky.

Services for Ellen Voorhees will be held at 10:00am Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Jim Stauffer and Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Ellen had a heart for missions and as such the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Trinity Evangelical Missions or Hospice of Wyandot County, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio  43351.
