Edith D. Bassett, age 93, of Upper Sandusky, and formerly of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 6:17am at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.
Edith was born on August 27, 1924 in Harding, West Virginia to Floyd and Carrie (Simmons) Swecker, both of whom are deceased. She married Charles M. Bassett on June 11, 1947 and he passed away on October 14, 1987.
She is survived by a son Michael (Jessie) Bassett of Rockton, Illinois, 3 daughters: Charlene (Homer) McDonald of Livingston, Texas, and Susan (Billy Ray) Justice of Houston, Texas and Ruth Bassett of Upper Sandusky. 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren also survive, along with a close family friend, Joyce Baker of Upper Sandusky.
Edith was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Rebecca, a brother Howard who died in infancy, and 4 sisters, Ruby Smith, Ellen Lazerson, Edna Robarge, and Ruth Rowan.
Edith was a homemaker and loved to go fishing and also enjoyed baking.
Funeral services for Edith D. Bassett will be held at 11:00am Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada, with Rev. Tim Nilsen officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery.
Visitations will be held 1 hour before service time on Monday, 10am to 11am, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada.
