Allen E. Pagnard, age 82, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 2:27pm at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

 

Allen was born on June 18, 1935 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Clarence M. and Helen M. (Wilson) Pagnard, both of whom are deceased.  He married Barbara A. Hehr on June 27, 1954 at the Trinity United Church Christ in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.

 

He is survived by a son Tom (Pam) Pagnard of Upper Sandusky, 2 daughters: Alison (John) Tracy of Leawood, Kansas, and Alicia (Richard) Sprau of Powell, 4 grandchildren: Kathryn (Mitchell) Rall, Julia (Jason) Lemire, Eric (Danielle) Pagnard and Ashley Sprau, along with 7 great grandchildren: Alex, Connor, Grant, Samuel, Everett, Madilyn and Lillian, 2 step grandchildren, Angie (Tim) Harr and Tricia (Bret) Hannam and 2 step great grandchildren, Reese and Brady Hannam. 

 

Allen is also survived by his sister, Evie Hall-Case, and 2 sisters in law, Joyce Pagnard and Dorothy Pagnard, all of Upper Sandusky, and a brother in law, Bob Zimmerman of Nevada.

 

He was preceded in death by 7 brothers: John, Jay Dallas, Charles, Daniel, Howard, Karl and Thomas, and 2 sisters, Mary Oman, and Martha Gerber Zimmerman.

 

Allen was a 1953 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, and went on to Barber College in Columbus Ohio.  Shortly thereafter, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army for 2 years, serving part of that time in Germany.

 

Allen was a barber in Upper Sandusky, having started in business with his brother Howard, then with Martin Dean as Dean & Pagnard Barber Shop until Martin’s passing in the 70’s, and he then barbered with his son Tom until his retirement after 58 years.

 

He was a member for over 50 years of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky, where he was active as a deacon, elder, consistory president and also sang with the choir.   

 

Al was a member of the AMVETS, American Legion Post #225, Elks BPOE #83, Upper Sandusky Masonic Lodge, Chapter and Council, Moose Lodge #1093.and Stone Crossing, all located in Upper Sandusky.

 

For hobbies he enjoyed working around his house and doing yard work, and most of all spending time with his family.

 

Funeral services for Allen E. Pagnard will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Brad McKibben officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.

 

Visitations will be held on Thursday, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity U.C.C. – Endowment Fund, Wyandot Memorial Hospital, or Hospice of Wyandot County and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH., 43351.
