Alice F. McCarthy, age 76, of rural Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away
On Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:45am at her home surrounded by her family.
Alice was born on May 24, 1942 in Wyandot County, Ohio to Guy and M. Lucille (Pryor) Stansbery, both of whom are deceased. She was first married to Larry Shaw, and then to Edgar McCarthy, both of whom are also deceased.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Anthony) Boes of Upper Sandusky, and 5 grandchildren: Troy Shaw, Cassalina Shaw, Kyle Boes, Keith (Melinda) Boes and Carrie Boes, along with 6 great grandchildren: Timmy, Carly, Ross, Alice, Eleanor Rose, and Caiden.
Alice is also survived by her 4 brothers, Roger Stansbery of Crosby, Texas, Tim Stansbery
of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Paul (Barb) Stansbery of Marseilles, Ohio and
Gary (Laura) Stansbery of Portage, Ohio, and 3 sisters, Rose Feltis of Cape Coral, Florida,
Diane (Gary) Gregory of Pickens, South Carolina,
and Paulette Mowery of Fostoria, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a son Lenny Shaw, great grandchild, Payten, 3 brothers, Phil,
Norman, and Sam Stansbery, and 2 sisters, Vicky Stansbery, and Peggy Raymond.
Alice was a homemaker and worked for over 36 years at AO Smith in Upper Sandusky.
For hobbies, she enjoyed card games, scratching lottery tickets, gardening, fishing and gambling
at casinos, along with feeding and watching birds, especially hummingbirds and finches, along with
spending time with her cats, Onion and Fluffer and her dog, Buddy, her peacock Prince and visiting
with family, especially her great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be private with burial taking place at Stansbery Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County, or a charity of the
Donor’s choice and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio,
43351.
