Martha Ann Pagnard (Gerber) Zimmerman age, 87, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016 at Fairhaven Community, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Martha was born on December 3, 1928 in Upper Sandusky, to Clarence M. and Helen M. (Wilson) Pagnard, both of whom are deceased.  On November 26, 1947, she married Wayne E. Gerber on November 26, 1947 and he passed away on February 28, 1987. She married Robert Zimmerman on April 21, 1990.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Zimmerman of Nevada, daughters Dee Baldwin (Sterling) of Richmond, VA, Sharon Irvin (Allen) of Bucyrus, son Phil Gerber (Sandy) of Bucyrus, step-sons Mike Zimmerman (Mariann) of Bucyrus, Jeff Zimmerman (Susan) of Fort Myers, FL, grandchildren Leanne Falkenstein (Tripp) of Mechanicsville, VA, Andrea Thomas (Mike) of Bucyrus, Holly Galvan (Eric) of Richmond, VA, Wes Gerber (Chris) of Yorktown, IN, Jeff Irvin (Misty) of Morehead, KY, Ryan Baldwin (Aleks) of Richmond, VA, Carrie Landa (Clay) of Richmond, VA, Sam Zimmerman of Fort Myers, FL, Macy and Megan Zimmerman of Bucyrus, Arron (Sarah) Emberson of Fort Myers, FL.  Great-Grandchildren Alec and Eric Thomas of Bucyrus, Jacob Falkenstein of Mechanicsville, VA, Christian and Corbin Galvan of Richmond, VA, Wyatt and Etta Gerber of Yorktown, IN, Shelby Irvin of Morehead, KY, Maddy, Willow, and Trafton Landa of Richmond, VA, Eli and Ollie Baldwin of Richmond, VA, Atlas Emberson of Fort Myers, FL.

Martha is also survived by her sister Evelyn Hall-Case, her brother Alan Pagnard (Barbara) both of Upper Sandusky, sister-in-law Ruth Bertilino (Jack) of New Jersey, Janet Barnes of Upper Sandusky, brother-in-law Paul Gerber (Ruth) of Fremont, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by beloved family members John, Charles, Daniel, Howard, Karl, Jay, Thomas Pagnard, Mary Oman, Ernest and Agnes Gerber, and Ward and Pauline Zimmerman. 

She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ “Mud Church” for 67 years where she was a member of the lady’s guild, played the church organ for many years and loved singing in the church choir.  She also attended Nevada Lutheran Church.

She worked for over 30 years at United Church Homes/Fairhaven Community as an Activities Director and retired after a long and successful career. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Nevada Elementary School where she loved reading and helping first graders learn to write.  She always enjoyed planning her lessons.  She taught the first graders how to write stories and she gave them back to them on Graduation Day.  She was known to all children as Grandma Zimmie.  She was an accomplished pianist, loved music and, she and Bob enjoyed attending the Columbus Symphony and the Bucyrus Community Concert. 

Her greatest joy was her family, attending all the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren’s schools activities. She and Bob loved to travel and spend time with family. 

A celebration of her life will be held at noon on August 13, 2016 at Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky where family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the Celebration.  A private burial will occur later.
