Ida May Brown

October 27, 1934 ~ April 30, 2016 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Ida May Brown, age 81, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

 

She was born on October 27, 1934 in Wyandot County, Ohio, to Karl F. and Grace Faye (Swartz) Lodge, both of whom are deceased.  She married Jack V. Brown I, on March 27, 1954 in Liberty, Indiana, and he passed away on October 13, 2004.

 

Ida May is survived by her children: Jack V. Brown II of Carey, Jennie Margison of Upper Sandusky, Kathy (DeWayne) Holcomb of Kenton, Kay (Sam) Swartz of Upper Sandusky, Jill (Bob) Barnett of Upper Sandusky, and Tom Andrews of Upper Sandusky. 13 grandchildren: Katie Roth, Marlee Thiel, Jake Margison, Cody Margison, Matthew Holcomb, Kurtly Holcomb, Donnie Swartz, Ben Swartz, Keith Swartz, Katey Swartz, Tyler Swartz, Mindy Rogers, and Jessie Hemmelgarn, along with 17 great grandchildren.

 

She is survived by a brother Henry Lodge of Kirby, and a sister, Romaine (Jim Schwilk) Whitt of Harpster, 3 sister in laws, Sue Adkins, Lorraine Brown, and Pat Lodge.

 

Ida May was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 brothers, Vernon and Wayne.

 

She was a homemaker and had worked at Nick’s Hamburger Restaurant, Chief Dairy, The Valley Restaurant, Millington Plastics, all in Upper Sandusky. She was a member of the John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky, where she was active with helping with various activities within the church, such as funeral dinners,  helping with the food in the dining hall at the fair, rummage sales, and the making of homemade noodles for the socials, along with her potato salad.

 

She was a 1953 graduate of Wharton High School and also attended Harpster School.

 

For hobbies Ida May enjoyed camping, watching deer, sewing and embroidering, doing word finds, cake decorating, and spending time with her dog, Gizmo. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and attending their various sporting events.

 

Funeral services for Ida May Brown will be held at 11:00am Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Brian Arnold officiating.  Burial will follow at Salem Church Cemetery.

 

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
