Helen B. Wilson

Helen B. Wilson, age 96, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away in her sleep on Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Upper Sandusky.

 

Helen was born on March 23, 1921 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and her parents were James and Ella Mae Barnhart. She married Dorsey T Wilson on May 13, 1938 in Lexington, Kentucky and he passed away on February 10, 1993.

 

She is survived by her two sons: Dorsey (Jean) Wilson, and James Wilson, both of Hillsboro, Ohio. Seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

 

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two children, Robert “Jiggs” Wilson, and Brenda Dickey, and eight siblings.

 

She worked for Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky for 25 years, and before that she had worked for the former Stoll Casket Company and Swan Rubber.

 

Helen was a member of Community Christian Center was its start here in Upper Sandusky, where she took part on many medical mission trips to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.  She also sponsored a child through Compassion International in Haiti for years and had a chance to meet her child while on a mission trip.

 

Helen was also active in support of Bethel Ministries, a charter member of the Red Belles Red Hat Society, where she served as Queen Mum for several years, and the Senior Citizens of Wyandot County, where she enjoyed going on the various bus excursions throughout the United States.

 

For hobbies she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, raising flowers, cooking and baking.  She will be remembered for her heart for prayer and her loving caring spirit as a mother and grandmother to many. 

 

 

Funeral services for Helen B. Wilson will be held at 11:00am Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Bill Williamson officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.

 

Visitations for Helen will be held on Wednesday, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sndusky and also 1 hour before service time at the church.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to  Community Christian Center Mission Fund or Hospice of Wyandot County.  Memorials can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH  43351.
