Harvey C. Bowmer

Harvey C. Bowmer, age 80, of Upper Sandusky, and formerly of Marion, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Bridge Findlay Hospice Care Center of Findlay, Ohio.

Harvey was born on June 28, 1936 to John Wesley and Lola (Roberts) Bowmer, both of whom are deceased. He was married to Virginia M. “Jenny” Seckel and she passed away on June 24, 2006.

He is survived by a daughter: Pamela (Bryon) Bay, Joseph Seckel, and Rex Seckel, all of Marion, Ohio.  3 grandchildren, Corey (Amy) Bowmer of Upper Sandusky, Candace (Dave) Justice of Marion, and Brandy (Scott) Roberts of Greencamp, Ohio.  Along with 7 great grandchildren, Addison, Rylan and Molly Bowmer, Kalib Snyder, Luxie Justice,  Hayden and Gavin Roberts. 

Harvey is also survived by 2 brothers, Arvil Lee Bowmer, and Freddie Wayne Bowmer, both of Marion, and a sister, Nora Ann Patterson of Summerset, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Brenda K. Bowmer, 2 brothers, William Harold “Doodle” Bowmer, Charles “Vernon” Bowmer, and a sister Emma Louise, along with 6 siblings who died in infancy.

Harvey served our country in the US Navy and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marion, and the American Legion Post #584. 

He worked in security his entire life, and was currently working for Sims Brothers in Marion.  Before that he worked for Schmidt Security Pro in the Marion Area Health Division.  He also had worked

for the former Mills Co. in Upper Sandusky.

Funeral services for Harvey C. Bowmer will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating.  Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 21, from 3pm to 6pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home.
