Glen "Butch" VanHorn

Glen E. “Butch” VanHorn, Jr., 71, of Upper Sandusky, died at 9:35 am on Monday, September 26, 2016 at his residence.

 

Born December 25, 1944, he was the son of the late Glen E. and Myrtle E. (Pryor) VanHorn, Sr. He married Karen S. Miller on June 12, 1971 and they were married for 27 years.

 

He is survived by three children: John D. VanHorn, Lisa J. “Bay” VanHorn, and Steve E. VanHorn all of Upper Sandusky, a granddaughter, Kathryn E. VanHorn, five siblings: Beverly (Gary) Patterson of Upper Sandusky, Rex A. (Rebecca) VanHorn of Upper Sandusky, Karen S. Salsbury of Findlay, Loren D. “Luke” (Karen) VanHorn of Upper Sandusky, and Sharon A. “Annie” Seifert of Crawford, a sister in-law, Melinda VanHorn of Grove City and his loving companion, Lisa Hawk of Upper Sandusky. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, William Van Horn.

 

He was currently a partner in Rexlor Transportation, Inc, Wyandot Industries, and Alpha Warehousing all of Carey. He was a truck driver for VanHorn Trucking, Viking Trucking, Spector, and Rexlor Transportation, Inc.

 

Butch was a member of the former North Salem Lutheran Church and a friend of Harpster United Methodist Church in Harpster. He was a former member of AMVETS 777 and Moose Lodge 1093 both in Upper Sandusky.

 

A love of horses, he enjoyed watching rodeos and the PBR Series. He also enjoyed attending auctions, boating, fishing, and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes.

 

Family was everything to Butch. He loved sleepovers and any family gathering.

 

Funeral services for Butch will be at 11:00am Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Soo-Hea Park officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery near Upper Sandusky.

 

Visitation will be held from 2 – 7pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

 

Memorial contributions can be given to the Wyandot County Council on Aging in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH. 43351.
