George J. Shuler

April 23, 1924 ~ September 8, 2016 (age 92) 92 Years Old

George J. Shuler, age 92, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 9:05pm at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay, Ohio.

 

George was born on April 23, 1924 in Ashley, Ohio to Geoffrey and Lucy (Dennis) Shuler.  He married Betty J. Brady on September 7, 1947 and she survives.

 

He is survived by his children: Linda Denman of Oak Harbor, Ohio, Russell Shuler of Pace, Florida, Steve (Beverly) Shuler of Carey, and Dale (Cheryl) Shuler of Amarillo, Texas, along with 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. 

 

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Richard and Abraham, and 2 sisters: Bertha Sears and Ella Smith Foos.

 

George worked for over 24 years for Glen Brick Corporation as a loader. He then along with his wife were managers of the Northern Kentucky Baptist Association grounds for 7 years. 

 

George was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army having served in the 89th Cavalry Reconnaissance 9th Armored Division. 

 

He was a member of Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky, along with former memberships with First Baptist in Upper, Anchor Church in Erlanger, Kentucky, and River of Life in Anderson, West Virginia.  George always played an active role every church that he worshiped throughout the years.

 

For hobbies, he enjoyed restoring cars, traveling, reading the Bible and going to church, and spending time with his family.

 

Memorial services for George J. Shuler will be held at 11:00am Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Bill Williamson officiating.  Burial will follow at Chandler Cemetery where military graveside rites will the conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.

 

Visitations will be held on Saturday at the church 1 hour before service time, 10:00am to 11:00am.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Christian Center, or a charity of the donor’s choice and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
