Gary R. Washburn, age 71, formerly of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, went to be with his Lord,

Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville, Ohio.

 

Gary was born on July 27, 1945 in Marion to Clarence and Elizabeth “Betty” (Hughes) Washburn.  He married Catherine V. Soliday on September 3, 1967 in Lancaster, Ohio. His mother and wife survive.

 

He is also survived by his sons: Rick (Deb) Washburn, and Philip (Liz) Washburn,

 grandsons Alex and Logan, and granddaughters Taylor and Aliana.

 

Gary is also survived by a brother Steve (Vicki) Washburn, a sister-in-law Nancy Washburn, brothers-in-law John (Barbara) Soliday, Larry (Karen) Soliday, Paul (Cherie) Soliday,

Tom (Pat) Soliday, Tim (Sandy) Soliday, sister-in-law Marianne Watkins,

 and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

 

He was preceded in death by his father, brother Roger Washburn,

brother-in-law James Watkins, and nephews Cory Washburn and Todd Soliday.

 

Gary was a 1963 graduate of Ridgedale High School and a 1969 graduate of

Ohio Northern University.  He worked as a teacher, Senior District Executive of

Harding Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, was a former Scoutmaster of

BSA Troop 777, worked at East of Chicago Pizza and was a member and

Deacon of Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky.

 

Gary loved farming and enjoyed many hours in the fields during his life.  He also enjoyed

playing his tenor saxophone, and mowing and tending the grounds of

Community Christian Center. Gary was a great fan of The Buckeyes and NASCAR racing.

 

Funeral services for Gary Washburn will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 29th at

Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio with

Pastor Bill Williamson officiating.  Burial will be in

Grand Prairie Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 2-6pm on Sunday, May 28th at

Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Community Christian Center and can be sent to
