Don E. “Pop” Ebright, age 75, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at his home.
Pop was born on June 17, 1942 in Watkins, Ohio to Pride “Spark” Ebright and Fern E. (Murphy) Ebright, both of whom are deceased.
Pop is survived by a daughter, Rene Sherman of Upper Sandusky and a son, John (Emily) Ebright of Powell, Ohio. He is also survived by six grandchildren who knew him as “Pop-Pop”: Sarah (Jennifer Walker) Ryan, Zara and Tia Johnson, and Ethan, Eli and Eva Ebright, two great-grandchildren, George and Della Walker-Ryan as well as a daughter-in-law, Kate Johnson of Reading, Pennsylvania and a brother, Ronald (Jackie) Ebright of Springfield, TN.
Pop was preceded in death by his parents, a son Steve Johnson, a son-in-law Bill Sherman, a sister, Linda Sparks and a brother John Ebright.
Pop graduated from Marysville High School and attended Columbus Business College as well as specialized seed schools at Mississippi State and for Scott and Petersen seeds. He retired from Northwestern Masonry Service, Findlay, after 23 years. Don sold farm and lawn seed for many years and owned WyCo Sales, grain bins and grain handling equipment.
Pop enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially harness racing, attending the Little Brown Jug for 60 years. Pop coached Little League baseball for 17 years in Marysville and Upper Sandusky and in 1976 created Upper Sandusky Minor League baseball. He was a life member of BPOE #83 in Upper Sandusky and a member of Moose Lodge #1093 in Upper Sandusky.
A memorial service for Pop will be held on Friday, March 9, at 6:00pm at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Ken Wessler officiating.
Visitation will be held from 3-6pm on Friday, March 9, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
